Alleppey houseboat overnight cruise
Kochi – Alleppey
- Private houseboat, not shared
- Lunch, tea, dinner and breakfast on board
- Sunset anchorage on the lake
A night on a private kettuvallam, drifting past paddy fields, village churches and coconut groves while the crew cooks Kerala meals on board.

Alleppey (Alappuzha) sits at the southern end of Vembanad Lake, and its canals connect to hundreds of kilometres of backwaters. The houseboats are rebuilt rice barges called kettuvallams, fitted with air-conditioned bedrooms, a sit-out deck and a kitchen.
A standard overnight cruise boards at noon, cruises until about 5:30 PM (when boats must anchor by government rule), and returns the next morning. You have the boat, the crew and the cook to yourselves. Most boats are one to four bedrooms; larger groups can book a bigger boat.
Nearest airport is Kochi (85 km). Alleppey railway station is on the Ernakulam–Trivandrum line. Houseboats board from Punnamada, Finishing Point or Kainakary jetties.
The classic way to see the backwaters, with fresh fish, appam and Kerala curries cooked on board.
A shorter 10 AM – 5 PM trip with lunch, if you prefer to sleep on land.
Small boats reach narrow village canals the big houseboats can't enter.
A quiet beach with a 160-year-old pier and a climbable lighthouse.
Across the lake: cormorants, darters and herons, best in the early morning.
The famous snake-boat race, held on Punnamada Lake on the second Saturday of August.

The boat with AC bedroom(s), the crew, and three meals: lunch, evening tea, dinner and breakfast. AC usually runs from 9 PM to 6 AM on standard boats and throughout on premium boats.
The overnight stay is the full experience: sunset on the water, dinner on deck and a quiet morning. The day cruise works when you're short of time or budget.
Yes. Alleppey has more boats and livelier canals; Kumarakom is quieter with lake-side resorts. We can quote either.
Send your travel dates and number of guests. A planner from our Kochi office replies with a day-by-day itinerary and a fixed price, usually the same day.
