Lighthouse beach at Kovalam, Kerala

About Kovalam

Kovalam is Kerala's best-known beach, three coves separated by rocky headlands just south of Thiruvananthapuram. Lighthouse Beach is the liveliest, with a promenade of cafés; Hawa and Samudra beaches are calmer.

It makes an easy finish to a Kerala tour because Trivandrum airport is half an hour away. From Kovalam you can also visit Poovar's estuary by boat, the Padmanabhaswamy Temple in the capital, and Kanyakumari as a day trip.

How to reach Kovalam

Trivandrum International Airport (TRV) is 15 km away. Thiruvananthapuram Central railway station is 16 km.
