South Kerala beaches & Kanyakumari
Trivandrum – Varkala – Kovalam – Poovar – Kanyakumari
- Varkala North Cliff at sunset
- Two nights in Kovalam
- Poovar mangrove boat ride
The southern tip of India, where the Arabian Sea, the Bay of Bengal and the Indian Ocean meet, and the one place in the country you can watch sunrise and sunset over the sea.

Kanyakumari is in Tamil Nadu but only two and a half hours from Kovalam, which is why we add it to Kerala tours as a one-night extension. Stay overnight so you can see both sunset and the next morning's sunrise from the seafront.
The ferry to the Vivekananda Rock Memorial runs from about 8 AM to 4 PM. On the way from Kerala we stop at Padmanabhapuram Palace, the largest wooden palace in Asia, built in Kerala style by the Travancore kings.
Nearest airport is Trivandrum (90 km). Kanyakumari railway station has direct trains from Kerala and across India. From Kerala it's easiest by road in the same car.
Crowds gather at the ghats before dawn. Your hotel may have a sea-facing terrace.
A short ferry ride to the rock where Swami Vivekananda meditated in 1892.
The 133-foot statue of the Tamil poet beside the memorial.
A 3,000-year-old temple at the shore. Men must remove shirts to enter.
Teak and rosewood palace of the Travancore kings, 35 km before Kanyakumari. Closed Mondays.
Memorial where Mahatma Gandhi's ashes were kept before immersion.

Yes, but you'll miss either sunrise or sunset. An overnight stay lets you see both and take the first ferry to the rock.
No. Our cars carry the interstate permit, so the same car and driver continue from Kerala.
Send your travel dates and number of guests. A planner from our Kochi office replies with a day-by-day itinerary and a fixed price, usually the same day.
